What Happened To: Andy Welsh |
Our fourth installment of What Happened To looks back to first year Toronto FC midfielder Andy Welsh.
Andy was signed by Toronto FC in 2007 after failing to crack Sunderland's first team lineup. He scored his first goal for the Reds on May 16, 2007 and was named “Man of the Match” by Toronto FC fans.
After providing poor results in the following matches, Welsh found himself in and out of the lineup and on August 30, 2007 decided to sign a contract with Blackpool.
In 2008 Andy was released by Blackpool after appearing in 21 matches, used mostly as a substitute by “The Tangerines”. He then went on trial for the Football League One firm, Yeovil Town.
Yeovil Town signed Welsh till the end of the 2009 season and became a favourite amongst the fans. At the end of the 2009 campaign “The Gloveto.org/";rs” extended Welsh's contract till the end of 2011. He is primarily being used off the bench but continues to be Yeovil Town's lead play creator.

The Beckham era in MLS soccer may have ended, but it ended in absolute fine fashion for the 36 year old Englishman. On Sunday November 20, the L.A. Galaxy beat out the Houston Dynamo 1-0 to capture the 2011 MLS Cup.
In the 72nd minute, the 3 Galaxy designated players teamed up for a fine Landon Donovan finish following a gorgeous build-up from Beckham and Robbie Keane.
The event saw the LA Galaxy capturing their 3rd MLS Cup since joining the league in 1995 and the Houston Dynamo losing their first MLS Championship since winning back to back championships in 2006 – 2007. |
